Q. Do I or my dependents qualify for your services?

A. Yes -
If you are a serving or retired police member who has lost a spouse/partner.
If you are a surviving spouse/partner or dependent of a serving or retired police member.
If you are a serving police member, retired member, the spouse/partner or dependant of a serving or retired member where the need for support is deemed special and extraordinary.
If you are a legatee child until you have completed your education.

If you resign from Victoria Police
If you remarry or enter a new relationship (services for children will continue).

 

Q. What will Victoria Police Legacy do if I die or my spouse/partner dies?

A. On notification of the death, our office will contact the surviving spouse/partner. A personal visit will then be made so that required services may begin.

 

Q. What services does Police Legacy offer to legatees?

A. At Police Legacy we strive to ensure that no surviving spouse, partner or child of a deceased Police Officer will ever feel forgotten or in need of support. Services offered by Police Legacy; these include education and career grants, social activities including fellowship lunches, emotional support, counselling and advocacy, financial assistance and advice, personal visits and reconnection days.

 

Q. Does Victoria Police Legacy have a tax deductable status with the Australian Tax Office?

A. Yes. Victoria Police Legacy has tax deductible gift recipient status and is classified as a Public Benevolent Institution.

A. If you would like to donate to Police Legacy please send your cheque or money order to:

Q. How do I leave a bequest to Victoria Police Legacy?

A. Including a bequest to Victoria Police Legacy in your Will is easy. When you make a Will, or update your existing Will, simply ask your solicitor to include a bequest to Victoria Police Legacy. There are a number of ways you can do this. Discuss your options with your solicitor to see which one is right for you.
