Christmas Gatherings 2012

Victoria Police Legacy encourages legatees to be involved in our social activities which are planned to enable contacts and networks to be maintained and be expanded. This is especially so at Christmas when there were four opportunities for legatees of all ages to get togetheMCG Christmas lunch.

The MCG members dining room was again the venue for our very popular Christmas lunch for adult legatees. Over 340 legatee and guests enjoyed a three course lunch and music supplied by the Victoria Police Combo Band.  Life memberships were awarded to Roger and Leanne Schranz, recognizing their commitment to and support of Victoria Police Legacy over many years.

The first weekend in December saw 17 families get together for a Christmas party at Wonderland Fun Park in Docklands.  With unlimited access to the many rides legatees of all ages enjoyed catching up with friends and making new ones. We had a show and Santa found time to make a visit.

As an additional activity this year our young adult legatees were invited to take part in a Victoria Police training activity at Melbourne University on 2ndDecember. Needless to say our legatees took to the role plays with enthusiasm and a good time was had by all. It was an opportunity for them to get together at the end of the year and catch up with Kate O’Neill who has facilitated and assisted with their activities during the year.

Friends of Police Legacy (FoPL) organized their own get together at the Crown Conservatory Restaurant. In what we hope will be the first of many a group of FoPL celebrated over lunch, and used the opportunity to catch up with each others’ news.

More details and photos will be included in our April newsletter.
