Creswick Regional Trip

In early September 83 legatees travelled to Creswick in central Victoria for the annual VPL regional trip. With the Novotel Forest Resort as our base we spent three days exploring the surrounding area.

Places visited included Creswick Woolen Mills ; Ballarat  Art Gallery, Ballarat Botanic Gardens ; Tangled Maze: Daylesford Convent and Hepburn Pavilion. There were opportunities for shopping in Ballarat and Daylesford along with coffee and cake in the many cafes and shops that were visited.  A formal dinner was held one evening at Novotel with Assistant Commissioner Stephen Leane in attendance.

Also present were local Creswick and Ballarat members Inspector Bruce Thomas, Leading Senior Constables Ian Wallace and Geoff Davies. Board members Superintendent Peter O’Neill; Sergeant Martin Park; Sergeant Adrian Hurring and Inspector Lauren Callaway were also part of the trip.

We have a strong group of volunteers and thank them for their assistance to make this trip happen every year – Ian “Salty” Gilmour; Bruce Mitchell; Geoff Halden; Barry Cox; Kate Bentley; John Moloney; Patrick Murray. Photographers Paul McBride and Andrew Hives volunteered their time to record the trip and more photos will be seen in the December edition of our Care newsletter.

All in all it was a great trip, the weather was mostly kind to us and legatees were able to relax and enjoy each others company which is what the trip is all about.
