Organ Donation

Joining the Australian Organ Donor Register is important. It leaves your family in no doubt of your decision about becoming an organ and tissue donor when you die.

Join the Australian Organ Donor Register today to record your willingness to one day save lives.  Register at

The Australian Organ Donor Register is the only national register for people to record their decision about donating organs and tissues for transplantation after death.

The national Register provides a record of a person’s donation decision for families and clinicians in the event of their death and can only be accessed by Authorised Medical Personnel to confirm your donation decision.

More than 1,300 Australians are on wait lists at any one time for a life-saving transplant. One organ and tissue donor can save and transform the lives of 10 or more people.

If you are willing to one day save lives as an organ and tissue donor, please register your donation decision online today. It only takes a minute or two, all you need is your Medicare Card number.

It’s also important to discuss your donation decision with your family and to ask and know their decisions.

If you previously recorded a donation decision on your state driver’s licence, you still need to join the Australian Organ Donor Register.

South Australia is the only state where residents can record a donation decision via their driver’s licence.
