Vale - Ian 'Salty' Gilmore

On behalf of the Board, our membership, staff, volunteers and everyone connected to Victoria Police Legacy (VPL), it is with great sadness that we announce the passing on Saturday 4th January 2020 of Police Veteran, VPL Life Member & VPL Volunteer - Ian ‘Salty’ Gilmore. We extend our most sincere and deepest sympathies to Ian's daughter Natalie, son Steve and the extended Gilmore family on the passing of a great man, and a true gentleman.

Ian served with Victoria Police for many years, retiring in January 2004 having attained the rank of Sergeant. He commenced is 30-year volunteer involvement with VPL in 1989, which saw him become VPL’s longest serving volunteer.

Ian’s recent battle with ill health has now come to an end and we pay our respects and honour and thank him for his outstanding service to Victoria Police Legacy.

Rest in Peace Ian 'Salty' Gilmore – you did yourself, your family, Victoria Police and Victoria Police Legacy very proud. You will always be remembered.

Chair - Victoria Police Legacy
