Victoria Police Cycling Club – Ride to Remember

From everyone at and connected with Victoria Police Legacy thank you to the Victoria Police Cycling Club (VPCC) for the 2017 Ride to Remember which was held between 15th-17th September, 2017, and raised some $37,500 for Victoria Police Legacy.

Commencing on the Friday they started in Ballarat, stayed in Colac overnight, then on Saturday rode to Queenscliff and took the ferry to Sorrento where they stayed. The next day the group of some seventy plus riders rode to the Victoria Police Memorial in Kings Domain, a journey of 390 kilometres in total, for a service attended by family, friends, supporters and curious onlookers; on a glorious Melbourne Sunday afternoon.

The timing of the ride is to coincide with what will become National Police Week and is to remember our friends and colleagues who are no longer with us and to raise funds for Victoria Police Legacy to assist with the ongoing support for police families who have lost a loved one. Each rider pays $250.00 to enter the ride and are then are asked to raise funds/donations in the lead up to the ride.

Riders included sworn police, public service staff and legatees. It is inspiring to witness such a passionate group of people combining their love of cycling, health and fitness whilst remembering our colleagues, friends and family who are no longer with us, whilst promoting Victoria Police Legacy and rider safety and awareness. Supporting the riders were a great team of volunteers, again, including legatees, who made sure they were all well fed, gear transported and bikes serviced and repaired.

Again, thank you also to everyone who donates to Victoria Police Legacy fortnightly or in-kind.
