Connection, Support & Memories: VPL Family Retreat 2025

Published: Monday 14 April 2025

A fantastic group of 90 police legatee parents and children came together for the annual VPL Family Retreat from April 6–9, enjoying a beautiful few days at Moama on the Murray Tasman Holiday Park.

The retreat was a special time for families to reconnect, make new friends, and feel the support of others who understand the journey of loss. These moments of connection remind us how important it is to stay connected to Police Legacy and the wider policing family.

From shared meals and a fun-filled day at Billabong Ranch, to exploring Twisted Science, fishing, a kids vs. adults soccer game (competitive spirit included!), and plenty of time just to be together - it was a truly meaningful and memorable retreat.

A heartfelt shoutout to our amazing VPL Ambassadors Sergeant Charlotte Peak and Sandra Gaffee, VPL Volunteers Young Adult Police Legatee Kate Burmester and Leading Senior Constable Brad Carroll, and police members Acting Sergeant Fleur Coutanche, Leading Senior Constable Nigel Lusk, Acting Sergeant Blair Crandell, First Constable Kim Fafoud, Senior Constable Dave McCallum, Detective Leading Senior Constable Aleisha Bortolotto, and First Constable Melissa Law and Sergeant Phil Semple for joining us.

A huge thanks also to all the Victoria Police members who contribute to enable VPL to offer such opportunities. Your support makes events like this possible.
