‘Victoria Police Legacy Baton Challenge’

Published: Wednesday 10 November 2021

‘Victoria Police Legacy Baton Challenge’ – Recruit Squad 39/2020-21 raises an incredible - $2,740! The squad commenced training at the Victoria Police Academy on the 29 May 2021, during what is a most challenging and unprecedented time due to the covid pandemic.

During the 31-week training program the squad has undertaken rigorous training designed to stress test the candidates to ensure they become high performing police officers who will go on to serve and protect the Victorian community. The squad undertook their training and if this was not enough, also taking on the ‘Victoria Police Legacy Baton Squad Challenge’!

The challenge operates to raise awareness of Victoria Police Legacy and more importantly, to let the police legatees know they have a support structure long after their loved ones have passed. The secondary aspect of the challenge is to raise funds, which go towards providing services and support to police legatees, enabling them to stay connected with the wider policing & police legacy families, be able to attend functions and events, and support the younger generation of police legatees with exciting opportunities which they may not have otherwise been available to them.

Squad 39 have been tireless in their efforts to do both, not only did they raise awareness, but they also raised an amazing and extremely impressive $2,740. This fantastic effort has been achieved through several activities which the squad did whilst undertaking their training. The squad graduated 11th November 2021 and  had the honour of unveiling the new Victoria Police Legacy Baton Squad picture which is now proudly displayed alongside the Police Legacy Baton at the academy.

‘Thank You’ to all the members of Recruit Squad 39 and Squad Manager Detective Sergeant Simon Polson who was instrumental in providing invaluable support and guidance to the squad!
